Fashion Styling

Fashion Styling is about presenting a product in the most appealing and commercially effective way possible. It considers not only how garments, footwear and accessories are combined and fitted, but how every element within the image can work together to enhance the product, capture attention and ultimately support its sale.

Alexa approaches each production by looking at the complete image and asking what will make the product look its best. From developing the look itself to considering the model, fit and proportion, hair and makeup, jewellery and accessories, set elements, props, poses and photographic angles, each decision is considered in relation to the product, the brand and the image being created.

Working collaboratively with the creative team, Alexa translates that vision into the production—coordinating complete looks, preparing products for photography or video and styling talent on set while helping maintain a clear and cohesive visual direction throughout the shoot.

The level of involvement can adapt to the production. Alexa can work within an established creative direction with a focused Fashion Styling role, or, where additional support is valuable, bring a broader visual perspective to the production while remaining within the scope of the styling role.

Art Direction

When a production requires broader creative direction beyond Fashion Styling, Alexa can take responsibility for how the different visual elements come together to create a strong, cohesive and commercially effective final result.

Art Direction looks at the production as a whole—from the product and creative concept to styling, talent, hair and makeup, set, photography and the overall visual language. Alexa works with the creative team to ensure these elements support one another and, most importantly, serve the product, brand and purpose of the imagery.

Her involvement can begin during the conceptual and pre-production stages, helping define or develop the creative direction, review the collection or products being photographed, plan how they should be presented, contribute to casting and team decisions, and identify potential challenges before they reach the shoot.

On set, Alexa provides clear creative direction across the production, working collaboratively with photographers, models, makeup artists, hairstylists and other professionals to translate the agreed vision into the final imagery. This can include direction around styling, model presentation and poses, hair and makeup, set elements, composition and photographic angles, while respecting the expertise of each professional involved.

Where relevant, her involvement can continue beyond the shoot through final image selection and post-production direction, helping maintain consistency between the original creative objective and the finished imagery.

Depending on the project, Alexa can work within an existing creative concept, help develop it further or take the lead from an earlier stage—adapting her level of involvement to the client's team, production structure and needs.

FROM COLLECTION TO FINAL IMAGE
Alexa’s understanding of product development and fashion operations allows her to look beyond the immediate production and consider what needs to happen earlier for the final imagery to succeed.

Where required, her involvement can begin during the development of a collection—helping evaluate product and collection cohesion, considering how pieces will work together when styled and photographed, and identifying gaps or decisions that may affect the final visual outcome.

If challenges in communication, coordination or process are affecting that journey, Alexa can work with the teams involved to help resolve them and create a smoother path from product development to production.

This broader involvement is always connected to the same objective: ensuring the product and collection arrive at the final production ready to be presented as strongly and cohesively as possible.

Casting Talent

The right talent can significantly influence how a product, brand or creative concept comes to life on camera. Alexa can support the casting process by identifying and selecting talent that aligns with the visual direction, target audience and specific requirements of the production.

Drawing on her experience conducting castings, model fittings and working with talent agencies, Alexa considers more than appearance alone. Proportion, fit, movement, presence on camera and how the talent connects with the product and creative concept can all influence the final result.

Depending on the production, support can include defining casting requirements, reviewing agency portfolios and submissions, scouting new talent, coordinating castings and fittings, and contributing to final talent selection.

For productions requiring a broader or more specific representation of people, casting can extend beyond traditional fashion models to different ages, body types, profiles and backgrounds according to the needs of the project.

Alexa’s role focuses on the creative side of casting and talent selection. Once talent has been selected, bookings, contracts and payments are handled directly between the client and the talent or representing agency.
